Johannes was de enige zoon van Rinse Johannes en Sjuttje Hanzes Scheer. Trouwde met Grietje Klazes Hoekstra, ouders van 10 kinderen. Johannes ( bel.lid van de NH kerk ) ging vaak naar afgescheiden predikanten luisteren tot op verre afstand. " Om het onversneden woord Gods te horen ". Hij heeft wel eens de stap er in gezet om 4 uur zondagsochtends. Johannes stierf aan de pokken toen hij een boerenechtpaar (Goinga) in Kimswerd verpleegde. De boerin zou in Amsterdam besmet zijn geraakt. Het jaarverslag van den toestand der Gemeente Wonseradeel over het jaar 1871 meldt dat er 15 gevallen van pokken voorkwamen. Te Kimswerd waar 9 patienten aan de pokken hebben gelaboreerd, zijn 5 bezweken waaronder Johannes. Achterkleindochter Wapke 6.31. kreeg vele jaren later 30 gulden van zoon Jarich Goinga, nog uit dankbaarheid dus. "Dyn oerpake is stoarn, omdat er myn heit forpleegd hat."
