Pieter Booij burgerde zich in zijn nieuwe stand vrij gauw in. In 1747 werd hij gekozen tot diaken der Doopsgezinde gemeente. Zijn vrouw werd in 1749 diacones. Volgens zijn zwager, Pieter Kuyper, werd hij geprezen wegens zijn optreden in moeilijkheden met de verfmolen "De Bootsmanmaat", waarin de kinderen een portie bezaten. Na de dood van Pieter Booij zette Lijsbeth Bootsman haar zaken voort met haar zoon onder de firmanaam de Wed. Pieter Booy en Zoon. Zij testeert op 24 oktober 1754 en 9 november 1764. In het laatste testament bepaalt zij, dat haar zoon Jan het huis met de gereedschappen en de portië in de hennipkloppers mag overnemen voor ƒ 1200.--
