Tjerk Vermaning (Staphorst, 18 januari 1929 - Groningen, 11 oktober 1987) was een Nederlandse amateurarcheoloog, voornamelijk actief in de provincie Drenthe. Hij verwierf bekendheid door zijn vondsten die vervalsingen bleken te zijn. Vermaning, de zoon van een schipper, voorzag in zijn levensonderhoud met de reparatie van landbouwmachines en het slijpen van messen van maaimachines waartoe hij rondtrok door Drenthe en Friesland. Later leefde hij enige tijd van een subsidie van de provincie Drenthe en van de opbrengst van de door hem gevonden fossielen en artefacten.
