Gilbert L. Wiles, known to his friends as Gil, was born to John F. and Helen (Wilson) Wiles on September 13, 1938 in Sedro-Woolley, and he entered into rest on February 25, 2009 in Burlington at the age of 70 years with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Gil worked at Skagit Steel as a Blaster, and was a noted musician, and played at many nightspots throughout the Skagit Valley, also playing backup to Loretta Lynn early in her career.

Gil is survived by his loving family: children, Carl Wiles and his wife, Kristie, of Burlington, Kevin Peterson and his wife, Suzanne, of Sedro-Woolley, David Wiles, of Bellingham, Katherine Wiles, of Bellingham, a sister, Virginia Peterson, as well as seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and the many friends that he made in his life that will all miss him dearly.

Gil's brothers, Floyd Wiles and Robert Wilson, his sister, Mary Alumbaugh, and his beloved wife, Kay, who passed in 1967, precede him in death.

Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday March 3, 2009 at 11:00am at Bow Cemetery. Following the service there will be a celebration of Gil's life at his sister, Virginia Peterson's home in Sedro-Woolley.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Affordable Burial & Cremation Services, LLC of Mount Vernon.
