'PIONEER FARMER OF THIS COUNTY HAS PASSED AWAY

William Pittenger, a pioneer farmer of Delaware County and in recent years a Muncie resident, died June 21, leaving a wife, one daughter and three sons.

William Pittenger was born in Delaware County, Indiana on the 18th of August, 1845. In Delaware township, under the old parental roof of Uncle Daniel Pittenger, the bright and happy days of childhood were spent. In March after he wastwenty-four he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Cullen, the daughter of John Cullen, who was a neighbor and joined farms with his father. Soon after the marriage, this young couple moved to Hamilton township to try the hardships of apioneer life. After having lived on this farm 32 years, one year ago last February, they moved to their present home in Muncie.

To their union were born four children, and it is a remarkable fact to state that until this time not a link has been broken.

William Pittenger was converted and joined the Union Chapel M. E. Church 40 years ago. He remained a member of that church until the Center Chapel U. B. church was organized. He and his wife being charter members of the class.
