Violet A. Bruns Winemiller, age 91, of Clark, SD, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at a Clark, SD care center. Memorial services were Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Henry, SD with Rae Speiser officiating. Special music was furnished by Rae Speiser, Alice Bruns and Diane Kludt. Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD.

Honorary pallbearers were Pat Kitterman, Karen German, Ann Turbes and Judy Johnson.

Violet A. Winemiller was born on January 3, 1919 to William and Hazel (Cohernin) Hurlbert at Raymond, South Dakota. She grew up in Raymond where she graduated from high school. On August 29, 1941 she married Francis Bruns in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The couple farmed near Raymond for two years, and then moved to Clark where her husband owned a freight business. Francis and Violet moved to Huron where they lived for seven years and returned to Clark in 1959. They moved to Watertown in 1971 and Francis and Violet managed Watertown Mobile Estates for several years. Francis passed away on January 23, 1986.

On August 20, 1988 she married Ray D. Winemiller in Watertown, South Dakota, and they moved to Henry where they made their home. Ray passed away on September 22, 1997. Violet had been a resident of the Golden Living Center in Clark since 2007.

She enjoyed gardening and baking, and was well known for her strawberries and homemade buns. She also enjoyed square dancing and seeing friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; her husband, Ray; and her sister, Mayme Cooper.

She is survived by her children, Wendell (Alice) Bruns of Henry, SD, Harlan (Mary) Bruns of Bruce, SD, Dorothy (Daniel) McDowell of Hill City, SD, and Rick (Cindy) Bruns of Bradley, SD; one sister, Holly Reiner of Watertown, SD; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
