Carol Jean Solberg Kuper

Sept. 23, 1930 - July 20, 2005

A long-time resident of the Big Horn Basin, Carol J. (Solberg) Kuper, 74, died peacefully Wednesday morning, July 20, at the North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell, where she was recovering from surgery for an aortic aneurysm.

She was born Sept. 23, 1930, in Summit, S.D., daughter of Issac J. Solberg and Marie S. (Poor) Solberg. She attended school in South Dakota and worked there in retail sales and with the Whitman Publishing Company in Wisconsin.

She married Melvin Dean Kuper May 21, 1950. She and her husband moved to Cody in 1958, where she devoted herself to being a homemaker, wife and mother. After Melvin's retirement, they moved to Lovell in 1999.

She was very devoted to her family and valued spending time with friends both in Lovell and Cody. She enjoyed a good yard sale, crossword puzzles and loved the mountains she moved to.

Mrs. Kuper is survived by her husband, Melvin Dean Kuper of Lovell; a son, Joel M. Kuper and wife Wendy of Greybull; a daughter, Robyn R. Stacey and husband Todd of Woodruff, Utah; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Dorothy M. Solberg; and a daughter, Bonnie J. Kuper.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service is planned for August 13, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Lovell United Methodist Church.
