Iva Syrene Jibben was born on a farm southwest of Lennox, SD, on May 18, 1927, the daughter of Christopher and Johanna (Nuttbrock) Jibben. She attended Middleton Country School. She then attended Davis High School for 3 years before graduating from Lennox High School in 1945.

On October 23, 1945 she was united in marriage to Anton Oltmanns at the Turner County First Presbyterian Parsonage. Following their marriage they farmed south of Lennox and then retired and moved into Lennox in 1998.

Iva was a lifelong member of Turner County Evangelical Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed music and playing the piano, mostly playing hymns by memory. Her family was very dear to her and she enjoyed time spent together.

Anton preceded her in death on January 16, 2011, ending their marriage of 65 years. She was also preceded in death by her father, on February 6, 1940 and her mother, on December 31, 1999; brother, Harold Jibben on April 3, 2004 and her grandson, Joel Oltmanns on August 13, 2012.

Grateful for having shared her life are her four children: Lynn (Anita) Oltmanns, Davis, SD, Gerald (Naomi) Oltmanns, Lennox, SD, Marjean (Doug) Siepkes, Spencer, IA and Vera (Kerwin) Haan, Lennox, SD; grandchildren: Jill (Scott) Dangel, Josh (Stacy) Oltmanns, Janel (Mitch) Merkwan, Amy (Matt) Dallmann, Sarah (Michael) Anderson, Sarah (Jay) Davis, Kristin Siepkes, Pam (Ryan) Klenner, Andrew Haan, Jason (Brittany) Haan and granddaughter-in-law, Heather Oltmanns; great-grandchildren: Marcus Dangel (Tonya), Brian Dangel (Heather), Chase, Madeline and Noah Oltmanns, Sadie, Eliza and Hudson Oltmanns, Maddox and Mayes Merkwan, Liliana and Charlotte Dallmann, Isabelle and Cameron Anderson, Carter, Hayden and Kayla Davis, Abigail and Lydia Klenner; one sister, Joyce Hofer, Baltimore, Maryland as well as other relatives and a host of friends.

Public visitation, with the family present, will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 19 at Turner County Evangelical Presbyterian Church, rural Davis, SD. Private family services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday and will be live streamed on the church Facebook page.
