'OBITUARIES Mary E. Alwood Native of Dover Township ... YORK Mary E. Alwood, 90, formerly of West York, died at 9:50 p.m. Saturday at the Leader Nursing Home, Dallastown. She was the wife of the late Paul R. Alwood. The service will be10 a.m. Wednesday at Zion United Methodist Church, 1050 Carlisle Road, York. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. Viewings will be 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the William E. Little Funeral Home, 60 S. Main St., Manchester, and 9 to 10a.m. Wednesday at the church. Mrs. Alwood was born on Sept. 17, 1903, in Dover Township. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Minnie (Streavig) Hershey. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. Mrs. Alwood is survivedby daughters, Phyllis Spahr of Dover, Marian Schnetzka of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Norma Richard of York; three sons, Gerald Alwood of Dallastown, Joseph Alwood of York, and Edward Alwood of Red Lion; 24 grandchildren; 34great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Alwood and John Alwood. Officiating at the service will be her pastor, Dr. Bradley A. Brown. Memorial contributions may be made to ZionUnited Methodist Church, 1050 Carlisle Road, York 17404.
