Thank you for answering my message so soon. I know she taught in a Polish area. On Fullerton Ave. off 65th Street. Near Fleet Ave. in What is now called Slovic Villiage. South east Cleveland I found a 1940 census record of a MargaretBowles born in abt. 1908. She was living in Cleveland, Ohio and was married to Earl Bowles age 34. It states that she finished 3 yrs. of college. This Margaret Bowles is older than your Margaret Bowles. But here are two Margaret Bowlesthat lived in Cleveland, Ohio. I had heard that the teacher Margaret Bowles died of a Brain Tumor. I don't know if this is true. Does this sound familiar to you? The Mrs. Bowles that I had in fourth grade was such an exceptional teacherIn fact she was the best teacher I ever had. I wish I could have known her better."

"Thank you for your info on Margaret Bowles. I do believe she was born in 1907. When I was in her class abt. 1959 she was probably in her 50's. or older. The other Margaret Bowles that you have in your Ancestry Family Tree was b.in1920. This would have made her six yrs. older than my mother, who was age 29 yrs. So I have to rule her out. Thank you so much. connie"

"Here is my report card that she wrote out. She took the time to put foil stars on the A's and red pencil stars on the B's and C's. That year, I had moved from a small town in S.W. Ohio and had been promoted to 5th grade. They did notteach Phonics there. Mrs. Bowles checked my reading skills and put me back to 4B. That year, I learned Phonics and could finally read at grade level! She also taught us to memorize our Multiplication and Division cards to 12. She gotafter my mother to help me at home on these! Her class room was decorated well. She had big posters on the walls of trees and their leaves with the names. She also had posters of birds and their names. This was probably a help forstudents with wondering eyes.. At the back of the room, in one corner, she had a library with plants on the top shelves. She scheduled duties to all of us to take care of it and water the plants. Each morning the first thing she woulddo was check our finger nails. If they weren't clean she would clean the dirt out with her long finger nails. You would remember to keep them clean! Also we had to have a clean hanky I remember , one day she told us a story about thefirst Christmas Tree. She was Firm, but very organized. I truly believe I owe the pleasure of Reading, all to her. Now you know why I admire her so much. She is a relative you can truly be proud of!" <>
