EVANSVILLE--Dorothy M. Eykamp, 96, of Evansville died at 6:27 p.m. August 24, 2002, at Holiday Health Care in Evansville.

She was the wife of George Eykamp, who founded Mid-States Rubber Products, Inc. in 1944. She had been Secretary-Treasurer for 20 years, beginning in the late 1950's.

She and her husband supported science and arts education, the Buffalo Trace Council Boy Scout Camp, and the George and Dorothy Eykamp Scholarship Fund with the Gibson County Community Foundation. Recently Dorothy Eykamp was a major sponsor of the Evansville Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.

Dorothy is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: G. Richard and Rita Eykamp of Evansville; and Dr. William and Myriel Eykamp of Arlington Mass.; four grandsons: Dr. Paul Eykamp, of Alamo Calif.; Philip Eykamp of Evansville; Christopher Eykamp of Portland, Ore.; and Colin Eykamp of Boulder. Colo.; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Huston, of Quincy Ill.; and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at Alexander East Chapel in Evansville. The Rev. Stephen Johnson will officiate. Entombment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, and from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Evansville Philharmonic Youth Orchestra or Trinity United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue."
