Services were to be held Wednesday, May 25 at 1:30 p.m. at Second Reformed Church in Lennox for Alvin W. Timmerman who died shortly after arrival at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls on Saturday, May 22, 2004. He attained the age of 83 years and one month.

Alvin William Timmerman was born on a farm north of Davis, South Dakota on Apr. 22, 1921, the son of William D. and Amelia (Schroedermeier) Timmerman. He attended Middleton school District #19 and grew up there.

On Dec. 14, 1944 Alvin was united in marriage to Ardelle Knock at Second Reformed Church in Lennox.

Following their marriage they farmed north of Davis, one and a half miles east of the home farm. They continued to live there until December of 1978 when they moved into Lennox. Alvin continued farming and also did maintenance work at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center until his retirement. He became a resident there in December of 2003. His death ended a marriage of nearly 60 years.

He was preceded in death by his father on Oct. 16, 1969, his mother on Aug. 23, 1973, his brother, Merle Timmerman, on Jan. 14, 1999 and one great-granddaughter, Brittany Timmerman, on Oct. 22, 1993.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Ardelle; two sons and their wives: Harold and Corleen Timmerman of Lennox and Wendell and Cindy Timmerman of Hurley; five grandchildren: Jeff (Denise), Steven (Melanie), Scott (Dawn), Robert and Jessica Timmerman; 12 great-grandchildren: Joshua, Jacob, Michaela, Isaac, Samuel, Grace, Rachel, Luke, Sarah, Nathan, Amanda and Riley; his sister, Luella Van't Kerkhoff of Zeeland, Michigan; plus several other relatives and friends.
