"Martin Dexter Cavin was born at Troutman, North Carolina on January 4, 1895, the son of Will and Rhoda Cavin. He attended public school and grew to manhood there.

On January 16, 1923 he was united in marriage to Jennie Schneiderman at Davis, South Dakota. At the time of thier marriage he taught school and then farmed for a short time. He was engaged in the implement business and later owned theCavin John Deere Implement Company in Lennox until his retirement in 1965.

He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of The American Legion Brethorst-Burma Post of Lennox. He was active in all community affairs.

Following a lengthy illness and hospitalization since May 19. Mr. Cavin passed away in the Veterans Hospital at Sioux Falls on July 4, 1976. He attained the age of 81 years and six months.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Fodness, who died February 5, 1973.

Survivors include his widow, Jennie; two William H. Cavin and Robert L. Cavin, both of Lennox; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Cavin of Troutman, N. C.; three sisters: Mrs. Carl Sharpe and Mrs. JudsonMcManus, both of Kannapolis, N. C. and Mrs. Fann Patton of Portsmouth, Va."
