Anna Blumeyer, age 93, of Canby, MN passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011 at her home with her family by her side.

Funeral services were held at First Presbyterian Church in Canby. Burial was in Marble Lutheran Cemetery, rural Canby.

Anna (Antje) Blumeyer was born January 3, 1918 in Sheldon, Iowa. She was the daughter of Jacob, Sr. and Anna (DeKoning) DeZeeuw.

Her 8th grade education was received in a country school.

She was united in marriage to Albertus Blumeyer on November 24, 1937 at her parent's farm. They farmed several years in the George, Iowa area. They moved to a farm south of Canby in 1952 and stayed there until 1974 when she and Al moved into Canby.

Anna was employed at REM homes and worked as a supervisor for several years. She was loved by her staff. One of Anna's greatest joys was working with the special clients at the REM homes and D.A.C.

Anna was a member of First United Presbyterian Church since 1952. She served two terms as an elder and one as a deacon. She was a member of Marble homemakers for several years. She enjoyed flower gardening, Twins baseball, playing cards and dominos, Gospel music, and most of all spending time with family and friends.

Anna is survived by three sons: Arnold (Sharron) Blumeyer of Charleston, SC, Douglas (Sandra) Blumeyer of Rocky Point, NC, Curtis Blumeyer of Canby; two daughters: Patricia (Jeff) Heath and Sandra (Orie) Beucler both of Minnetonka, MN; 18 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law: Kathy Blumeyer of Fargo, ND and Nancy Blumeyer of Costa Mesa, CA; son-in-law Lee (Wilma) Buffington of Artesian, SD; three brothers; three sisters; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband Al; two sons: Arlin and Myron Blumeyer; daughter, Darlene Buffington; three grandchildren: Douglas Blumeyer Jr., Michele Blumeyer and Stacey Blumeyer; daughter-in-law, Sandra Blumeyer; her parents, Jacob and Anna; her brothers: Paul, Klaas, Jake Jr., and Howard DeZeeuw and one sister, Delia VanZee.
