Jake Mammenga was born Jun. 16, 1910 at Monroe, SD

He was married to Grace Viet Aug. 22, 1941.

The couple farmed in the Monroe, Canistota and Chancellor areas. They moved to Canistota in 1973.

He died of an apparent heart attack at his home. The last three years he was employed at the Good Samaritan Center in Canistota.

He is survived by his wife, Grace; one daughter, Geraldine (Mrs. Walter Lauck) of Salem; two sons, Maurice of Canistota and Orville at home; two sisters, Bessie Mammenga of Marion and Katie Otten of Sioux Falls; 8 grandchildren.

"Jake Mammenga
Canistota, S.D. - Jake Mamenga, 68, died Wednesday at his home.

He was born near Monroe, S.D., and farmed in Turner and McCook counties until retiring into Canistota in 1973.

He is survived by his wife, Grace; two sons, Maurice and Orville, both of Canistota; one daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Lauck, Salem, S.D.; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Bessie Mammenga, Marion, S.D., and Katie Otten, Sioux Falls.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Reformed Church at Monroe. Tschetter Funeral Home of Marion is in charge of the arrangements."
