Evelyn Wieman, 90 of Marion died Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the Tieszen Memorial Home, Marion.

Evelyn Lucille Griebel was born on July 5, 1926 north of Monroe, SD to Alexander and Alice (Benson) Griebel.

After graduating from Monroe High School in 1944 she was united in marriage to Elmer Wieman on February 22, 1946 at the farm where she was born.

They lived in Monroe for one month short of 50 years before moving into Marion. Over the years she worked as a cook at the Hilltop Home in Parker, school lunch program at the Monroe School, and the cafe in Monroe. She was an active member of the First Reformed Church which is now the First Church of Monroe, she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Ladies Guild.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Elmer; 2 children, Curt, Springfield, SD and Trudy Konda, Marion; 6 grandchildren, Nikki (Tracy) Hardin, Chris (Marlee) Wieman, Shelly (Mike) Wieman, Angie (Eric) Bjordahl, Troy (Jenni) Konda, and Brooke (Chris) Wipf; 11 great grandchildren, Paige and Payton Hardin, Mason, Alissa, and Lexi Wieman, Lane and Levi Wieman, Bella and Kai Bjordahl, and Conner and Aiden Wipf.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son in law Bill Konda, and 2 brothers, Lawrence "Bud" and Delmar.
