Harm Eilders - - was born in 1833 in Germany, and his wife Remtje was born in 1837. They left Germany for Freeport Illinois, in 1883. Shortly after coming to Illinois their daughter Trientje married Siemen Daniels, and the young couple came to the George area. About the same time Harm's son Dirk also came here. He and Siemen obtained a whole section of land southeast of George from Oltman Wilhelms, who owned land although he lived in Illinois. In 1884 the rest of the Harm Eilders family came here settling on what is now the Lucy Geerdes farm. Almost all of this country was a vast prairie at this time and there were very few trees. It was only along the rivers and creeks that trees could be found, wild plum being the most plentiful. This was before the railroad came though George.

The Harm Eilders children were Trientje (Mrs. Siemen Daniels); Dirk (unmarried); Swantje (Mrs. Wesley W."
