'Tena Schneiderman was born on a farm near Davis, South Dakota on June 5, 1907, the daughter of George R. and Grace (Begeman) Poppenga. She attended rural school and grew to womanhood there.

On June 24, 1931 she was united in marriage to John W. Schneiderman at the Reformed Parsonage in Davis. Following their marriage they farmed 1 1/2 miles east of Lennox for seven years. In 1938 they moved to the home farm 4 1/2 miles south of Lennox where they had since lived. Her death ended a marriage partnership of nearly 55 years.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Reiner G. Poppenga, in 1985.

She organized and was a leader of the Go-Getters 4-H Club for several years.

Having been in declining health and having been recently hospitalized, Tena died suddenly at her home south of Lennox on May 16, 1986. She attained the age of 78 years, 11 months and 11 days.

Surviving are her widower, John; three sons: Russell, Merrill and Keith Schneiderman, all of rural Lennox; one daughter, Bonnie Ohrt of North Mankato, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers: Alvin Poppenga and Richard Poppenga, both of rural Davis and Bernard Poppenga of Lennox; one sister, Mrs. Orwin (Gladys) Fodness of rural Lennox.'
