Peter (born Pierre) Frederic Quaile was born on May 27, 1823 in Seloncourt, France and was a son of Pierre Abraham Quaile (1780-1846) and Catherine Eleonore Girods (1785-1864). Quaile is the original French spelling of the family name.

On Dec 15, 1855, he married Catherine E. Demet in Seloncourt. She was born on Nov (or Oct) 29, 1833 in Laire, Montbeliard, France. He was a clock maker as was his father.

They had three children born in France, George Frederic, b. May 30, 1856, d. June 8, 1856; Eugenia Louise on Dec 14, 1857; and Edouard (Edward) Pierre (Peter) on Jan 13, 1866.

When Pierre got out of the service in France, the family immigrated to America, arriving at Castle Garden Immigration Center in New York City on Apr 11, 1866. They left from the port of Harve, France to London, where they boarded the immigrant ship "Cella".

Once in America, they settled in Williams Co., Ohio. Here they had four more children, Clara in 1867; Lilly on May 22, 1870; Frances (Fanny) on Dec 7, 1871; and Denora (Nora) Bertha on May 29, 1874.

By 1900, the family was living in Benton Township in Paulding Co., Ohio. Pierre eventually became an American citizen. Peter died on Mar 9, 1908.

"Obituary
Peter Kuaile born, May 27th 1823 in Selouncour France, he was united with the Lutheran Church at the age of 16 years. He was united in Marriage to Catherine Demet December 15th 1855, they came to America in 1866 and settled in Williams's Co. Ohio and in 1888 moved to Paulding Co., Ohio. To this union was born 2 sons and 5 daughters, one son dying in infancy, and one daughter dying two years ago.

He departed this life March 9, 1908 aged 84 yrs. 9 month 12 days He leaves a Wdow, one son, four daughters, eighteen grand children and a host of friends to mourn their loss.

Funeral March 12, Sugar Ridge Church; interment Stephenson Cemetery, J. Logan Powers officiating.
