"WCGS does not want you to pay for something that will not be very helpful. Our society does not want to take money with little return from the sender, and $30 is a lot of money. It looks like you want to determine if there are two children born on the same year and day - Charlotte and Salome. All indications are that there are not two children, but only one, meant to be Charlotte but recorded as Salome. The confusion is due to the name "recorded" by the person who wrote the birth records. Often the doctor or township clerk would bring to the courthouse a long list of names and then the court recorder would transfer the info to another book, often making mistakes. This is not the first we've encountered. I am sending links to some digitalized records found online that may be of help.

Pam Lash's hypothesis is a good one. Salome Metz is not a twin, else Charlotte's birth information would have been recorded also. Salome's birth is recorded to be 26 Dec 1889. Charlotte Metz' birth is recorded to be Christmas day 1889. Regarding the name Salome instead of Charlotte, a clerical error might have happened at the physician's office or the county clerk's office. Another possibility is the parents might have changed Salome's name to Charlotte after the recording had been made. I am merging the information I have for Salome Metz into the data I have for Charlotte Metz. - D. A. Navorska - xxvii Feb MMXXI - in proximo Grove, OK.

Either Mary Lodemia Metz née Hider went north to have her daughter born at the physican's facilities, or the physican or midwife went south to Washington Twp. for the birth, say, at the Metz home.
