'Evert and Abby Schneiderman Family

'Originally emigrating from Germany, Evert and Abby Schneiderman had lived in Iowa prior to their arrival in Lennox. They joined the ranks of early settlers of this community in March 1881. Both were born in Germany, Evert on April 28,1831, and Abby Bikker on May 7, 1845.

Mr. and Mrs. Schneiderman married in thier mative land and continued residence there for several years. Coming to this area from Akron, Iowa, the Schneidermans settled on a farm six south of Lennox where they engaged in farming untilretiring in Lennox. They built a house at 401 S. Poplar in 1896, which is the present home of Miss Jennie Bruns.

Eight children were born to this couple, including Harmke (Mrs. Ben Knock), Dick, Rieka (Mrs. Harm Goeman Hyronimus), Henry, John, Mary (Mrs. Harm Groen), Harm and Martin, who farmed south of Lennox. He is believed to have built thefirst tractor in Lincoln County. This tractor was made from parts of discarded machinery and a number of hand-built parts.

Mrs. [sic] Schneiderman died Jan. 28, 1917, and Mrs. Schneiderman followed him in death on April4, 1919. They are buried in Turner County First Presbyterian Cemetery.'
