Mrs. John Geerdes, 75, two and one-half miles southwest of Wellsburg, died at her home Monday morning at 10 o'clock of heart trouble. She had been ill for a year.

Mrs. Geerdes (Gertrude Ruter) was born September 27, 1867 in Shiloh township, where she lived all her life. She was married to John Geerdes February 29, 1888.

She is survived by three sons, Ben, George, and Gratus; five daughters, Mrs. John Heikens, Mrs. Paul Heetland, Mrs. Jake Geerdes, Mrs. Gerald Bakker and Ordie.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at the house at one o'clock and later at the First Christian Reformed church west of Wellsburg with Rev. L. F. Voskuil in charge. Burial will be in the cemetery adjoining the church. The casket-bearers selected are: Andrew Janssen, Will Janssen, Henry Primus, Joe Eilers, Ray Gimer, and George H. Geerdes.

Mrs. John Geerdes Died Monday; Sick Past Yr.

Mrs. John G. Geerdes died at her home 2 1/2 miles west of Wellsburg at ten o'clock Monday following an illness from heart trouble and complications during the past year. She was 75 years old.

Mrs. Geerdes was born in Shiloh township and she spent her entire life here on a farm. Her maiden name was Gertrude Ruter. She was a daughter of Ben Ruter, who came to this part of Grundy county about eight years ago. The Ruters were among the first families that came to this part of the county to make this their permanent home.

Mr. and Mrs. Geerdes were married 55 years ago and they resided in the same locality all of their lives. They have been members of the First Christian Reformed church west of Wellsburg ever since their marriage.

Funeral services will be held at the First Christian Reformed church on Thursday afternoon. The services will be conducted by Rev. Louis Voskuil. Burial will be in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Surviving are the husband and eight children. The children are Mrs. John Heikens, Benjamin, Mrs. Florence Heitland, George, Gratus, Mrs. Jake Geerdes, Mrs. Gerhart Bakker and Ordie, who is at home.
