"JOHN HEETLAND

Johann "John" Heetland was born on November 1, 1854, in Oldersum, Ostfriesland, Germany. He came to America with his parents and sister, Elstena (Harberts), when a young lad. The family settled ast [sic] Ridott, Illinois, and later moved to Ackley, Iowa.

It was at Ackley that John married Wilhemina [sic] "Minnie" Ukena. Minne was born in Walle, East Friesland, Germany on September 6, 1861, The couple settled at Germania, farming south of town for many years.

John and Minnie were parents of Johanna, Tena, Minnie, Jerry, John, George, Elstena, Ethel, andLouis.

John died in 1926, and Minnie in 1941."
