Biography
Services were held Tuesday, Mar. 22, 1994, for Alfred L. Haan, 101, who died at Covington Heights Health Care Center in Sioux Falls on Friday, Mar. 18, 1994.

Alfred Luverne Haan was born on a farm near Aplington, IA., on Jan. 13, 1893, the son of John and Bessie (Reiman) Haan. At three years of age he moved with his family to a farm north of Rock Rapids, IA., where he attended rural school and grew to manhood.

On Feb. 18, 1920 he was united in marriage to Florence Marie DeNeui at Lennox, SD.

Following their marriage, they farmed north of Rock Rapids for one year. They moved to the Lennox/Chancellor area where they continued farming until 1953 when they moved into Chancellor. His wife preceded him in death on Oct. 23, 1973, ending a marriage of over 53 years. He continued to make his home in Chancellor with his daughter, Rose, until he became a resident of Covington Heights Health Care Center in Sioux Falls on Nov. 22, 1991.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one infant son, David LeRoy; one granddaughter, Florence Marie; one sister, Johanna; four brothers: John, Henry, William and George.

Alfred attained the age of 101 years, two months and five days.

Grateful for having shared his life are his daughter, Rose Marie Haan of Chancellor; seven sons and their spouses: Wayne Haan of Sioux Falls; Daniel and Iva Haan of Harrisburg, Donald and Leona Haan of Davis, James Haan of Chattanooga, TN, Fred and Clarice Haan and Frank and Jennie Haan, all of Chancellor, Dick and Karen Haan of Minneapolis, MN.; 23 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Haan and his wife, Ida. of Sioux City, IA.; three sisters: Ella Carlson, Bertha Hawkins and Mrs. George (Delia) Watson, all of Holstein, IA.; three sisters-in-law: Eileen Haan, Sophia Haan and Helen DeNeui; plus
a host of nieces and nephews.

Burial: Lennox Cemetery Lennox Lincoln County South Dakota, USA
