Arthur was the son of George and Elizabeth Hansman Wibben and he was a life-time farmer. He married Lorraine Bruns, who is the daughter of Henry and Christine Goldhorn Bruns. The couple farmed northwest of George. Their children are Quinten (m. Barbara Gardner and divorced) and Darwin (m. Karen Modder)."

Lorraine Wibben, age 87, formerly of George, IA died Monday, April 4, 2016 at Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids, IA.

Lorraine Delores Wibben was born on April 6, 1928 in George, IA, the daughter of Henry and Christine (Goldhorn) Bruns. She grew up in the George area and attended Country school and later graduated from George High School.

Lorraine went on to Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, IA, where she got her teaching certificate. After that she taught Country school for a couple years at rural school #2.

On June 8, 1948, Lorraine was united in marriage to Arthur Wibben at the Hope Reformed Church rural George, IA.

After their marriage they moved on to the Wibben family farm where they lived until retiring from farming in 1980.

The couple then moved into George and Lorraine began working at the nursing home. Lorraine's husband Arthur died on January 25, 1992.

Lorraine was a member of the Hope Reformed Church. She enjoyed sewing and working outside on the farm and especially loved going to her grandchildren's sporting events.

Lorraine is survived by her two sons: Quinten Wibben of Fort Meyers, FL and Darwyn (Karen) Wibben of George, IA; seven grandchildren: Shelle (Danie) van Niekerk of Cape Coral, FL, Carrie (Geordie Bigus) Wibben of Chantilly, VA, Benjamin Wibben of Okeechobee, FL, Loralye Wibben, Dawndralee (Daniel) Gisolf, Kaeleigh (Chad) Bechler and Lance Wibben all of George, IA; nine great-grandchildern: Isabella van Niekerk, Tyler Wibben and Emmalise Bigus, Landree Wibben, Danyka and Deedryk Gisolf, Hudsyn, Hadleigh and Haedyn Bechler; one sister, Agusta (Keith) Hansman of George, IA; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Christine Bruns; husband, Arthur Wibben; two sisters, Hilda Klinkenborg and Beverly Janssen; and one brother in infancy.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Jurrens Funeral Home in George, IA with Reverend Al Honken officiating.

Burial will follow at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George, IA.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Jurrens Funeral Home in George.
