Valeta was raised by the Pittengers, not a biological child of theirs.

Lee Russell writes, 'Valeta was a child of a daughter who may have been a sister to Zada who married John Pittenger - Valeta was adopted shortly before her marriage to a Hugh? Williamson and she (Valeta) was raised with Layden Pittenger Earl Pittenger.' - 11Ja1994 Lee Russell writes, '...Valeta was also very pretty - blonde - blue eyes and kind. Her son was in my class at school - but he was kind of contrary & stubborn (probably a spoiled kid.) - 11Ja1994
