Betty L. Jurgens (widow of Harm), age 84 years, of Wymore, Nebraska, died Friday, October 26, 2012, at her daughter's home in Hastings, Nebraska. She was born July 31, 1928, at Tecumseh, Nebraska, to Cline and Lucile (Jobes) Seckman. She graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1945. Betty married Harm F. Jurgens on June 11, 1947, at Marysville, Kansas. They made their home and farmed south of Wymore. Betty was employed as a seamstress at the Beatrice State Developmental Center until her retirement in 1993. Following her the death of her husband, Betty moved to Tecumseh in 1998, and then into Wymore in 2000. She was a 50 year member of Anderson Unit #25 of the American Legion Auxiliary at Wymore. She was a talented seamstress and quilter, avid gardener, a dedicated mother and grandmother, and was known for her great sense of humor. Her hobbies also included reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Betty is survived by five children, Don Jurgens and wife Loa of Wymore; Jenneth Brown and husband Tommy of Hastings; Janine Cooper of Beatrice, Nebraska; Karen Stroebel of Hastings; and Amy Pearl and husband Don of Gaithersburg, Maryland; by ten grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter; and by nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harm F. Jurgens on Nov. 2, 1995; by sisters, Phyllis Jurgens, Jeanette Taylor, Maxine Koefoote, Marilyn Seckman, and Jo Crane; by brothers, Bill Seckman and Tommy Seckman; by sons-in-law, Robert Cooper and Thomas Stroebel; and by a great grandson, Derek Craig.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, November 1, 2012, at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home, 505 N. 9th Street, Wymore, with P.M.A. Ernie Waltke of Our Savior's Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be at the Wymore Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. Tuesday until the time of service on Thursday. Memorial to family's choice with the funeral home in charge. An online register book is available at ghchapel.com.

Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home, Wymore, is in charge of arrangements.
