"Meta "Margaretta" Bauer Eiben" Birth 7 Nov 1840 Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen), Germany Death 23 Aug 1910 Redwood County, Minnesota, USA Burial Remsen Cemetery Remsen, Plymouth County, Iowa, USA Memorial ID 31363081

The remains of Mrs. Meta [Margarette] Eiben of Wabasso, Minn., were shipped from the late home to Remsen on Tuesday where interment was made beside the remains of her husband who died near that place several years ago. The funeral was held yesterday and was largely attended by old acquaintances and relatives.

Deceased passed away on Saturday afternoon after much patient suffering from cerebral hemorrhage. She was born in the province of Freisland [note: should be Ostfriesland], Germany on November 7, 1840.

In 1872 she emigrated to this country with her parents and later was united in marriage to Betta Eiben. They resided for a few years in Woodford county, Illinois, and in 1892 moved to Plymouth county, locating on farm near Remsen. While living at that place the husband died leaving the bereaved wife and mother and six children, four of whom survive. After the death of the husband, Mrs. Eiben and the family moved to Redwood county, Minnesota, where she lived until her death.

She was a loving wife and mother and had a devoted interest in the welfare of her children who at an early age were left without a father's care. She led the life of a good Christian woman and passed to her reward fully prepared with the sacraments of her church. The remains were accompanied here by a son and Wm. Raveling, a son-in-law, who formerly lived at Remsen. - Le Mars Globe-Post, April 28, 1910, page 2.
