Joyce Wuebben, Walter Groen Exchange Nuptial Vows Saturday Evening

Emmanuel EUB Church was the setting on Saturday evening, nov 10 at 7:30 o'clock for the wedding of Joyce Elaine Wuebben, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wuebben, Polo and Walter Groen, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Groen, Polo.

The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Ira B. Wilson before an altar adorned with seven branch candelabras, baskets of white and yellow mums, and palms.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, was lovely in a gown of Chantilly lace and nylon tulle over satin. The lace fitted bodice and long tapered sleeves featured a scalloped sweetheart neckline and closed down the back with tiny satin buttons. The full bouffant tulle skirt had a front and back scalloped lace panel sweeping into a short chapel train, and was worn over a hoop. A lace Queen's crown embossed with sequins and edged with pearls secured the tip length nylon illusion veil. Her bridal bouquet was a white orchid surrounded by lily of the valley with streamers and pearls attached.

Donald Horst, Mt. Morris, sang O Promise Me and as the couple knelt at the altar he sang The Lord's Prayer. His accompanist was Phyllis Horst, Mt. Morris.

Mrs. Harold Wuebben, sister-in-law of the bride; as matron of honor, wore a yellow net ballerina length gown over taffeta. She wore a headband of bronze mums and her flowers were a cascade bouquet of mums. Elmer Groen served his brother as best man.

Craig Groen, nephew of the bridegroom, wearing a blue suit, carried the rings on a white satin pillow.

Karen Folk, cousin of the bride, was flower girl and she carried a basket of yellow rose petals. Her dress was pink taffeta with blue streamers.

All the men in the bridal party had white carnation boutonnieres.

Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church parlors for 120 guests. A five tiered cake surrounded by yellow roses and green foliage was the centerpiece of the table. Mrs. Harvey Dykema, aunt of the bride, cut the cake; Mrs. Rose Folk, aunt of the bride, served the punch; and Mrs. Elmer Groen, sister-in-law of the bride, served the coffee. James Schreiner, Mrs. Irvin Schreiner and Mrs. Kenneth Miller were in charge of the gift table and the guests were registered by Miss Janet Kneiss.

When the Groens left on a trip to Florida, the bride was wearing a beige faille coat dress with brown accessories and the orchid from her bridal bouquet. Upon their return they will reside on a farm six miles northwest of Polot.

The bride is a graduate of Polo High School, attended Rockford School of Business and has been employed as secretary at Kable News, Mt. Morris. Her husband is a graduate of Forreston High School and is engaged in farming, 3 Change Date: 1 Mar 2008
