"JOE AND CORA (EISENHAUER) ABELS

Joe Abels, son of John and Johanna Minnie (Myering) Abels was born on a farm near Kamrar, Iowa on July 26, 1914. His parents later moved to a farm near Buffalo Center. He was one of four children: John, Jr., Joe, Jennie and Edward.

Cora Eisenhauer, born on July 20, 1916 is the daughter of August Eisenhauer and Helen (Berschman) Eisenhauer. She is one of six children: Anna, Cora, Harold, Jack, Velma and Dorothy.

Joe and Cora met at the end of their parents' farm driveways where they lived across frm one another about three miles north and three miles east of Buffalo Center. This acquaintance blossomed into marriage on January 15, 1937. ... Five children were born to this family: David, born October 17, 1937; Don, born May 18, 1941; Barb, born September 25, 1944; Jan, born October 28, 1947; Bev, born November 2, 1949.

David was married to Jane Johnson from Forest City, Iowa. Dave and Jane live on the Joe Abels farm north of town and are the parents of three children: Daniel, married to Deb Shortenhaus, frms west of Thompson, Iowa; Julie, married toVince Johnson, farms near Swea City, Iowa; and Cory at home. They have four grandchildren: Adam and Andrew Abels and Lyndsay and Lacey Johnson."

Betty learnt via FaceBook that Jane Abels died in her sleep. She had attended a candlelight service on Christmas Eve.

"Jane Abels

Jane Abels, 76 of Buffalo Center died at her home on Friday, December 25, 2015. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30 at the First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center, with Pastor Brad Devries officiating.Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Olena Mound, Buffalo Center.

Jane Marie was born in Forest City, [Iowa] on December 1st, 1939 to Marion and Thelma (Thompson) Johnson. She graduated from Forest City High School in 1957. While in high school, Jane worked as a carhop at the Lake Mills A&W Drive In,where she met the love of her life, Dave. Jane graduated from Hamilton Business College in Mason City[, IA,] in 1958.

Following graduation, she went to work at Iowa Hardware National Insurance Company with her sisters Judy and Joan. On June 19th, 1960 Jane married Dave, and to this union three children were born. Dave and Jane lived in the BuffaloCenter area where Jane worked for Wilson Clothing Store. She also worked alongside of Dave on the family farm. She enjoyed operating the combine, catch cart and grain truck. Dave and Jane made a great team, both on the farm and in thehome.

Jane was at her happiest when she was with her family, friends, and involved in community activities. She loved to have coffee with the girls and she was a passionate and active member of her church.

Jane unexpectedly passed away on December 25th, 2015 in her home.

Jane is preceded in death by her husband Dave, her parents, and her mother- and father-in-law, Cora and Joe Abels.

Left to cherish her memory includes son Dan (Deb) Abels of Thompson[, IA]; daughter Julie (Vince) Johnson of Swea City[, IA]; and son Cory (Jamie) Abels of Saint Peter, MN; grandchildren Adam Abels, Andrew (Cherisse) Abels, Lindsy (Roby)Randall, Lacey (Matt) DeGeest, Madison, Colton and Amelia Abels; great grandchildren Lauren Randall and Waylon DeGeest; sisters Judy (Earl) Trenhaile of Manly, IA, Joan (Bill) Stewart of Canon City, CO, Jan (Joe) Stock of Canon City, CO,Jill (Vern) Thompson of Lincoln, NE; in-laws Don (Marlys) Abels of Sun City, AZ, Barb (Larry) Weaver of Buffalo Center, IA, Jan (Dave) Kiewiet of Buffalo Center, IA, Bev (Al) Murra of Vermillion, SD along with cousins, nieces, nephews andmany friends.

Jane will always be remembered for her kind and giving heart, sense of humor, strong work ethic and love of the Lord.
