Carl Alderukas Veer, Jr. passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Madonna Towers.

Carl was born on February 21, 1928, in Titonka, Iowa to Carl Veer and Harmina (Pannkuk) Veer. He was born and raised on the family farm, and worked on the farm

until he enlisted in the United States Navy from 1944 - 1948, proudly serving aboard the USS Adirondack as a radio man.

Carl married Pauline Margaret Miller on October 24, 1950, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. After their marriage, Carl and Pauline farmed near Adams, Minnesota for several years where their three children were born.

They moved to Rochester, Minnesota where Carl entered the carpentry trade. Carl was a home builder and contractor until his retirement in 1990.

Carl is survived by his three children, Kathy (Dale) Ferguson of Gulfport, Mississippi; Jon Veer ( Kay Hocker) of Rochester and Paul (Jerrilyn) Veer of Wabasha; three grandchildren, Joshua (Leah) Ferguson of Charleston, S.C.; Travis (Julianna Joo) Ferguson of Los Angeles, CA; and John Ostgard of Norwalk, CT; one brother, his twin Carroll Veer of Rochester and one sister Gertrude Zabel (Glenn) of Elgin, Minnesota.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 66 years, Pauline and his sister-in-law Doris Veer.

Carl and Pauline enjoyed boating and fishing when their children were young. Carl particularly looked forward to his annual deer hunt with his sons, Jon and Paul. In their retirement, Carl and Pauline were frequent golfers - he took any chance he could to get on the course - if the weather was fine and he had a partner. Carl continued to golf throughout this summer at the age of 90.

Carl cared for Pauline throughout her lengthy illness from Altzheimer's disease.

Carl was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester.
