AGED LADY FOUND DEAD IN ORCHARD NEAR PLAINFIELD

Mrs. Julia Weaver Dies Suddenly while on Way to NeighborÙus Home Seated on Fence When Attack Came - Body Had Laid on Ground Three Hours Before Being Discovered

After lying for over four hours in an orchard, where she had been stricken and died, the body of Mrs. Julia Weaver, aged 70, was discovered by Mrs. Allen Marlatt, a neighbor, shortly after 1 oÙuclock Friday afternoon, two miles east ofPlainfield. Mrs. Weaver had left her home, one-half mile away, bound for the Marlatt home at 9 oÙuclock in the morning. Mrs. Marlatt had occasion to walk up into the orchard after the noon hour when she noticed an object lying against afence. Upon investigating, she was horrified to find the lifeless body of her neighbor, Mrs. Weaver. Dr. Hammond of Plainfield was hurriedly summoned, but he found the aged lady beyond all earthy aid. According to the physician, death wasdue to an attack of heart disease.

IN EXCELLENT HEALTH

Mrs. Weaver made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Chaney Osbun and Friday morning, left for the Marlatt home apparently in excellent health and spirits. It is thought that she was stricken while seated on the fence to take a short restafter her walk, fell to the ground and died instantly. A package of garden seeds, which she was carrying, was lying on the opposite side of the fence, as if it had been dropped before she fell. Her spectacles were pushed up into her hairas if she had been wiping her forehead when stricken.

CORONER SUMMONED

Coroner J. D. Lower was summoned but after securing the particulars of the death over the phone, advised the relatives that it would be unnecessary for him to view the body, which was then removed to the Osbun home. The deceased was thewidow of the late Thomas Weaver and was one of the best known and most highly respected residents of the Linton Mills vicinity. She is survived by a family of seven daughters and three sons as follows: Mrs. Clara Ingraham, of Kimbolton;Mrs. Kitty Shaffer, Mrs. Amanda Shaffer and Mrs. Laura Shaffer, all of West Lafayette; Mrs. Eliza Greer of Newcomerstown; Mrs. Mary Henderson and Mrs. Martha Osbun of the Linton Mills neighborhood; J. Weaver and Johnson Weaver of Illinoisand John Weaver of Indianapolis, Ind. Two sisters and one brother also survive as follows: Mrs. Hattie Dawson of Cambridge; Mrs. Rachel Sheely of Kimbolton and William Sheely, BirdÙus Run.
