"Martin E. Vust -- was born in Siemonswolde, Ostfriesland, Germany, in 1855. By the time he was fourteen both parents had died and he had to shift for himself, so he became a sailor. In 1876 he married Miss F. Wallrichs and a few years later, because he wanted to be with his family more, he decided to quit the navy. It was then, in 1882, that they sailed for America. They settled first in Grundy County, Iowa. In 1887 they moved to Ashton, and in 1889 to their home farm between George and Little Rock, where Gary De Boer now lives. ..."
