Tillie Akkerman, 96, of Harris, died Sunday, May 27, 2001 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Spirit Lake, IA. Born October 22, 1904, in Wellsburg, IA she was the daughter of George and Jennie (Borchers) Steen. She married AndrewAkkerman Dec. 28, 1926. He died April 11, 1998.

She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. After Marriage, they farmed north of Allendorf, IA. They later farmed S of Little Rock and SW of Sibley, IA. In March 1941, they settled on a farm NW of Harris. She was a memberof First Presbyterian Church, Round Lake.

Surviving are 1 son, Ray (Lila) Akkerman, Harris; 1 brother Bert (Edna) Steen, Ocheydan, IA; 2 sisters Eve Palmer, Grand Junction CO. and Lenora Small, Sibley; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2-8:30 today with the family present from 7-8:30 at Walton, Roste, & Vogel Funeral Home, Sibley. The service will be at 11 Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, Round Lake with the Rev. Robert Bartlettofficiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Harris.
