Johanna Raveling, nee Reenken, wife of our esteemed friend Tjebbe Raveling, of Meadow township, died at her home at an early hour on Saturday, March 12. Mrs. Raveling was born January 1, 1958 in Rorichum East Friesland, Europe, and there she became the wife of Mr. Tjebbe Raveling in the year 1881, and in 1882 they both came to this country and located near Remsen. Their union was blessed with ten children, of whom eight live with their father to mourn the severe loss. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon and over 100 buggies and carriages loaded with people formed the cortege. Rev. Albert Dettmann spoke feelingly of the departed good woman at the blessing of the body in St. Paul's church, before the march to the final resting place. - Le Mars Sentinel, March 22, 1904, page 1

Death of Mrs. Raveling. Johanna Raveling, nee Reenken, wife of our esteemed friend and neighbor Tjebbe Raveling, of Meadow township, died at her home at an early hour on Saturday, March 12.

The news of the death of Mrs. Raveling came to Remsen on Saturday morning and was a shock to our people. Mr. and Mrs. Raveling were so well liked in this entire community, and the demise of that noble wife and loving mother came so sudden and unexpected. Only 8 or ten days before her death Mrs. Raveling made complaint about her health and the attending physician found that some kidney trouble existed, but not in a form to cause alarm, yet the worst came.

Mrs. Raveling was born January 1, 1958 in Rorichum East Friesland, Europe, and there she became the wife of Mr. Tjebbe Raveling in the year 1881, and in 1882 they both came to this country and located near Remsen. Their union was blessed with 10 children, of whom 8 live with their father to mourn the severest loss. The funeral was Tuesday afternoon and over 100 buggies and carriages loaded with people formed the cortege. Rev.
