"Obituary - Alex N. Thompson [handwritten May 1927]

Alex N. Thompson, eldest son of Noble A. and Christina Thompson, was born on a farm six miles west of Shell Rock, June 29, 1862, and died at his home west of Shell Rock May 18, 1927, of hardening of the arteries. With the exception of a few years spent in the west and six years in Minnesota practically all of his life was spent in and near Shell Rock where he followed the occupations of blacksmithing and farming.

On November 29, 1906, he was married to Miss Rosa Moore. To this union were born ten children - one dying in infancy. He leaves to mourn his loss his widow and the following children: Nellie, Dora, Arthur, Alice, Francis, Robert, Lucille, Harlan and Mary. Also three brothers, Peirce of Clarksville, George of Bakersfield, Calif., Charles R. of Shell Rock, and one sister, Phoebe of Shell Rock, and numerous relatives and friends. He was a kind neighbor and a highly respected citizen. His greateat interest was his home and family. [hand-written 1927]"
