Growing up she attended rural school and graduated the 8th grade. For several yearsfollowing school she worked on her family's farm.

Margaret married Dale Finer on April 18, 1951. Together they raised two sons, Sherman and Greg. In 1987 she and Dale retired from the farm and moved into town where they enjoyed each other and their time with family.
