Note: Funeral services were conducted Monday, July 3, 2000 at 10 am from the First Baptist Church for mrs. Fred (Harriet) Ackerman, 75 of George, IA. Pastor Randy Battey officiated with organist Darlene Harms and music by Joyce Tarrell andnathan Schrick. Casket bearers were Kenneth Harms, Dennis Schrick, Gayle Wagenaar, Herman Stubbe, Gary DeBoer, and Harlan Doeden with burial in the First Baptist Church cemetery. Harriet died Wednesday, Juner 28 at the Sioux ValleyHospital in Sioux Falls. Harriet Ackerman was born January 10, 1925 in Lyon County at the home of her parents Hillary and Minnie (Kix) Krull. She lived with her family on a farm in Liberal Township where she attended country school. Harriet graduated from theGeorge High School in 1942. She attended the University of Northern Iowa, after which she taught country school for 2 years.

She married Fredwin Ackerman at the home of her parents on December 19, 1945. They farmed NE of George, while she continued to teach for several more years. They moved to George upon retirement in 1983. Harriet was a member of the FirstBaptist Church and was involved in many church and local activitiies.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Fredwin of George; 3 daughers Jolene of Greenville, SC; Carrie Rice of Lake Andes, SD and Glenda Lenz and husband Doug of George, IA; 2 sons Eddy and wife Christina of Akron, IA, and Winfredand wife Deb of George, IA.

Also left to cherish her memories are 9 grandchildren; Tammie Drown, Tanya and Chad Lenz, Frederick, Benjamin, Jennifer and Christopher Ackerman; Mandy Storm and Greta Ackerman; one step granddaughter Peggy Ward; one great granddaughterJaeda Storm; 3 step great grandchildren Heather Tiffany and Bradley; 2 sisters Alice Jansen and Phyllis Peters both of George and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers Edward, George, Fren, Ernest, Wilfred and Virgil and one son-in-law Harry rice in 1997.
