Note: Evelyn Helen Scheepstra, 80, of Worthington, died on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington, MN. She was born on April 4, 1929, in Lyon County, IA, the daughter of Heiko and Agnes (Ackerman) Willemssen.

She married Daniel Scheepstra on April 22, 1948, in Worthington. In addition to raising her family, she worked at Gordy’s Super Value and State Bank of Worthington. She continued her banking career in California and Arizona.

Her greatest pleasure was cooking and baking for her family.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Daniel Scheepstra of Worthington, MN; four children, Dennis (Irene) Scheepstra of Tuscon, AZ, Roger (Karleen) Scheepstra of Brandon, SD, Nancy (Ben) Vander Kooi of Worthington, MN, and Beverly (Don) Yrjoof Redwood Falls, MN, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two infant sons, her parents, and two brothers.

A private family memorial service and burial will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at the Benson Funeral Home Chapel in Worthington, MN, with Rev. James Sickmeyer officiating.

All family and friends are invited to join us at a gathering to be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
