He married Amanda, who was one of five children of Leonard and Harmky Ackerman Van Briesen. She attedned country school.

The couple began farming his father's farm, which is located northeast of George. They faithfully attedned Zoar Presbyterian Church where amanda was a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Daryl Janssen was the son of Detmer and Amanda Van Briesen Janssen and he farmed northeast of George. He married Beverly, daughter of Henry and Christine Goldhorn Bruns. They were long-time members of the Zoar Presbyterian Church.Their children are Mark (m. Pat Van Westen), Jean (m. Stan Groth); and Paula (m. Tom Rodda)."

Daryl Janssen, age 75 of George, IA died Friday, May 11, 2007, at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zoar Presbyterian Church at George, IA with Rev. Dale Lint, officiating. Burial will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Zoar Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Roste Funeral Home of George. Daryl Lee Janssen was born August 18, 1931 at Sibley, IA the son of Detmer and Amanda (Van Briesen) Janssen. Daryl grew up on the family farm and attended country school. He graduated from George High School in 1949. After his education he worked for area farmers until his father died in 1953. After his father's death he took over farming his family's farm. Daryl was united in marriage to Beverly Bruns on June 5, 1951 at George, IA. Daryl and Beverly raised their family on the farm northeast of George, where Daryl farmed his entire life. He loved raising livestock and especially cattle. He was a farmer to the core, almost all of his pastimes and life activities centered around farming. Over the years, Daryl and Beverly took many rides through the countryside to check on the crops, visit neighbors or on their way to Daryl's favorite fishing spots. Daryl was an active member at Zoar Presbyterian Church where he served several offices. In July of 2006, Daryl's health declined and he spent several months at Sioux Valley Hospital. As he became stronger he was discharged and he became a resident of Feildcrest assisted living in Sheldon. Daryl was admitted to Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD, where he died on Friday, May 11, 2007, at the age of seventy-five. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Janssen; their children, Mark Janssen and his wife, Pat of Rock Rapids, IA; Jean Groth and her husband, Stanley of Pilger, NE; and Paula Rotta and her husband, Tom of Forest City, IA; along with his grandchildren, Maggie and Aaron Rice of Winterset, IA; and Hillery and Brittany Janssen of Sioux Falls, SD; great grandchildren, Avry an Ayson Rice. Daryl was preceded in death by his parents, Detmer and Amanda; and his sister, Donna Geerdes.
