"Remt Geerdes - - was born in Illinois, the son of Berend Geerdes. In 1902 he married Mary Willemssen, the daughter of Hinrich W. (Henry) Willemssen. They farmed southeast of George where James Geerdes no lives. This farm has beenowned by a member of the Geerdes family since 1895. It was homesteaded by the first owners in 1875, and in the next twenty years it changed hands twenty times.

The Remt Geerdes children were Ben R. (married twice, Carrie Mayme Willemssen and Louise Bush); Henry R. (unmarried); Herman R. (married Dena Timmer); Amos (married Rose Kruse); and Albena (Mrs. Arthur Nicks)." <>
