"Roger Hassebrock, 74 Roger Hassebrock, 74, of Urbandale, IA died Sunday, November 2, 2008 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 5 at Meredith Drive Reformed Church with private entombmentat Resthaven Cemetery following the service.

Roger was born in Webster City to Guy and Lena Hassebrock. He spent his youth in Kamrar, Iowa and graduated from Kamrar High School. Roger graduated from Webster City Junior College and later received a B.S. degree from the University ofIowa, where he met his future wife, Lila Van Gerpen, on a blind date. They married on April 20, 1957 in Buffalo Center, Iowa and moved to Des Moines where Roger worked at Iowa Des Moines National Bank/Norwest Bank for 40 years. Roger wasan avid Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed reading, especially about American History. Roger and Lila loved to travel and took many trips of historical interest. Roger loved his family and enjoyed his 13 grandchildren very much. He had a tenderheart for animals, especially his cat, Tinker.

Roger is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lila, his children, Diane (Dean) Stokka of Des Moines, Susan (Mark) Lee of Urbandale and John (Amy) Hassebrock of Ankeny; thirteen grandchildren, Sommer, Ariel, Grant, Eden, Jamie, Andrew,Lindsay, Tara, Katie, Henry, Austen, Holly and Sidney; two great grandchildren, Jada and Lucas; his siblings, Don (Esther) Hassebrock of Ankeny and Vi Sankey of Britt, Iowa.

Memorial contributions may be made to Meredith Drive Reformed Church or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. Cards will reach the family at 4604 62nd Street, Urbandale, IA 50322-8206." <>
