'This obituary seems to fit into the family that JACK ALWOOD asked about, as I found the following in our Court House: Vol. 4 - JACOB ALWOOD, age 83y 3 m 25d d. Dover Twp., Dec. 30, 1935. Born in Ohio. Parents were WASHINGTON ALWOOD andCATHERINE ALLEN.'

2Sep1852 dob calculated from dod & age @ death.

Stringfellow, Helena, e-mail to David A. Navorska, (Carlisle PA, H.S., 6July1999)

'.... My records show that Catherine Allen was the second wife of George Washington Ovid Alwood. Geo Washington Ovids first wife was Hanna Richter and Jacob was her son.

Of interest, my records show that Jacob was born on 5 Feb 1853 and died on 30 December 1935. Your sheet shows that Jacob was born on 2 Sept 1852. We agree on his death date.

Jacobs mother Hanna died in 1909. Jacob died 26 years later. I suggest that the obit for Jacob is in error as far as his mother's name. Perhaps the author of the obituary only know of Washington Alwoods' wife Catherine Allen andincorrectly assumed that Catherine was Jacob's mother.'
