Father: David Francis COOMER b: 6 JUN 1866 in Adair County, Kentucky Mother: Cora Ann STINSON b: 21 MAR 1881 in Burkesville, Cumberland County, Kentucky

Marriage 1 Leona Marie SCHROEDER b: 2 MAY 1906 in Floyd County, Iowa

Note: ... It appears that Leona and Joseph met in Summit, Cook County, Illinois in the Mid-1920's. Possibly sometime between 1923 and 1928. It is known that Joseph's older sister, Henrietta Coomer, died in Summit, Cook County, Illinois on10 February 1970, and may have lived there with her second Husband, , AubrieF. McDaniel, Sr., as early as 1917, the year they were married. Speculationhas it that Joseph moved to Summit to live with or near his sister or may have visitedon occasion. According to Kathy M. Gerkins, Leona's grandparents lived in Summit and as a result, Leona spent a lot of time there. Whateverthe case may be, there was a point where Joseph and Leona were in Summit at the same time, met andfell in love. It is uncertain why the two never married, but they continued their relationship for at least six years, from 1929through 1935 and possibly until as late as 1938. Joseph and Leona's children were born in Charles City, Iowawhere Leona's immediate family were from. It is uncertain if Joseph and Leona had ever lived together either while inSummit or in Charles City. According to Kathy M. Gerkins, Joseph is known tohave visited Charles City, but it is notknown if he had ever lived there. The relationship is very sketchy at this point and anyone that would know more details has since passed away.
