John Harenga, who lives near the German Reformed church in German township, died last Thursday from cancer of the stomach after a prolonged illness. Since July, Mr. Harrenga has been unable to do any work and in the interim has beengradually failing in health up to the time of his death. The news of his death caused a surprise among his Titonka friends, as it was not known that he was so near death's door, though a number knew that he was in failing health. Hiswife and eleven children and other relatives were at his bedside when he passed away. Hohn Hadels; Cornelius Harrenga was born Aug. 15, 1861, in Germany. He came to America in 1878 when he was a young man. He was married to Miss MettaHarmanina Ukken Jan. 1 1884. Died Oct. 17, 1912, age 51 years, 2 months and 2 days. to their marriage 12 children were born, all living except one which died Jan. 11, 1908. Mr Harrenga was married at Ackley 28 years ago and then movedto Alexander, Iowa, after which he moved with his family to Belmond, where he farmed for several years and then came to German township where he had lived since, coming here 19 years ago. Mr. Harrenga was one of the best known farmers inGerman township, raised a large family and took the responsibility of life in as cheerful mood as anyone could. Mr. Harrenga and wife raisedup a large family of boys and girs who looked to them as the guiding spirit in everything theydid. He was a devoted husband, a kind and generous father and a friend to those in need. He was a member of the German Reformed church of German township since he had been a resident of the county.

Funeral services were held from the German Reformed church of German township last Saturday, conducted by the pastor, Rev. G. Haken, after which the remains were laid to rest in the church cemetery. Mr. Harrenga leaves to mourn hisdeparture, a wife, eleven children, mother, four sisters, one brother and four grand-children and many other relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.
