Services Held Monday For Former Resident

Britt: Services and last rites for Willie E. Meyer, widely known Britt resident and retired farmer, were held Monday afternoon in the First Lutheran Church.

Visitation was at the Boughton Funeral Home until 10:30 a.m., when Mr. Meyer was taken to the church to be in state until time of the service. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Adix, pastor, brought words of comfort tothe family and friends.

Willie E. Meyer, son of Frank and Caroline Van Bressen-Meyer was born Sept. 9, 1895 at Visquard, Germany. His first education was received in Germany, then he came with his parents to Ackley, Iowa where he completed his education andgrew to manhood.

On January 2, 1918 he was united in marriage to Maude Hennings, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Hennings, at Algona. The couple established their home on a farm near Titonka. The home was blessed with two sons and four daughters,August, Caroline, Frank, Ella Mae, Marie and Katherine. they also farmed near Wesley and Bancroft for many years until retirement.

Mr. Meyer was devoted to agricultural interests, and his life centered with his family and frients. For the past year he had been in failing health, but not of a serious nature until on June 26 when he entered the Hancock County MemorialHospital where he slept away early Friday morning due to a heart condition. He had attained the age of 72 years, 10 months and 24 days.

He is survived by his wife; his children, August of Britt, Mrs. Walbert (Caroline) Mayland of Britt; Frank of Corwith, Mrs. Ella Mae Martin of Ventura, Calif., Mrs. Joe (Marie) Bath of Port Hyememe, Calif., and Mrs. Duane (Katherine)Mabry of Ventura, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Henry F. Meyer of Britt; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, a brother, Meindert, and a half-brother, Henry Van Bressen."
