VIRGINIA BEACH - George Joseph Binder, Jr., 79, went to his eternal rest on Friday, Sept. 28, 2001. He was born in Middleburgh, N.Y. and had retired from Civil Service. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Hebden Binder and hisgranddaughter, Andrea Suzanne Binder. Mr. Binder was a veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific in the U.S. Navy. George was a pilot and had a life long love of flying. In his later years he took up golf and thoroughlyenjoyed the game and the fellowship it provided.

He was a charter member, elder, and trustee of the King's Grant Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Norfolk-Virginia Beach Executives Club, Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion, and the Wesleymen's Bible Class ofEpworth United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Nancy L. Lloyd of Clemson, S.C. and Mary Denise Middleton and her husband, Dennis of Virginia Beach; two sons, Richard J. Binder of Virginia Beach and George R. Binder and his wife, Dana of Knotts Island,N.C.; two sisters, Ethel Gizzi of Chester, Pa. And Margaret Navorska and her husband, Don of Ashland, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Brent Binder, Courtney Binder, Jordon Binder, Jaclyn Cravens, Kourtney Cravens, Ashley Middleton, Michael Lloyd, John Lloyd and Aaron Lloyd; five great grandchildren; and his dear friend, Virginia H. Graves.

A memorial funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2001 in the King's Grant Presbyterian Church by Rev. J. Selden Harris, Jr. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at the Middleton home. Memorialcontributions may be made to the Lupus Foundation, American Heart Association, or the Ronald McDonald House. Cox Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
