Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Badje of Buffalo Center were held last Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Rake. Pastor I.B. Sorensen and Pastor Keith Tomlinson officiated.

Mrs. Harvey Asmus, organist, accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Mayland, Mrs, Carroll Johnson and Cordell Satre as they sang. Vernon Jacobson and Robert Harms were ushers.

Pallbearers were Gary Irons, Eugene Irons, John Irons, David Swalve, Jim Badje and Dan Fauske. Burial was in Graceland cemetery at Buffalo Center.

Lena Badje, a daughter of Joe and Jennie Johnson, was born April 28, 1900, near Kamrar. She the moved with her family to a farm near Lakota, where she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Sept. 11,1920, she was married to John Badje. They lived on a farm near Lakota; and later purchased a farm near Rake, where they lived until they moved to Buffalo Center during 1956.

Mrs. Badje suffered a stroke during July of 1978. She was in her own home for a year; and then entered Timely Mission Nursing Home. Mrs. Badje, 82, died Aug. 10 at the home.

She had been an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran Church Women. She also was a member of Buffalo Center's American Legion Auxiliary.

Mrs. Badje is survived by seven children, Mrs. Evert (Jennie) Swalve of Kiester, Mrs. Hjalmer (Bertha) Irons of Buffalo Center , John Badje of Scarville, Mrs. Sigurd (Josie) Estebo of Scarville and Carl Badje, Lawrence Badje and Joseph Badje of Rake; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by three sisters, Jennie Johnson of Lakota, Rena Johnson of Buffalo Center and Mrs. Elmer (Hilda) Schnieder of Bancroft; and two brothers , Joe Johnson of Buffalo Center and John Johnson of Lakota.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, her husband, John, two sons-in-law and three grandchildren.
