Roy Isvik

The memorial service for Roy Isvik, of Verndale, was held at noon on Saturday, June 17, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hewitt with Pastor Robin Fish presiding.

Roy passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 12, 2017, at his home in Verndale, MN.

Roy was born to Lawrence Gerhart and Emma Marie (Guhl) Isvik on April 20, 1930, near Jewell in Lyon Township, Hamilton County, IA. Roy joined the U.S Navy at Ft. Dodge, IA and served from January 4, 1951 until his honorable discharge on November 8, 1954, in Brooklyn, NY.

Roy was united in marriage with Jula Marlene Klaver on September 2, 1955 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. They made their home in Hewitt, MN, where Roy worked each day with the many chores farming requires. He further enjoyed the outdoors when trapping, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing a good hand of cards with family and friends.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife Jula on September 7, 1999; parents Lawrence and Emma.

He is survived by his sons Tony Isvik of Hewitt, and Dale Isvik of Sun Valley, NV; daughters Jill (Dave) Pohl of Mora; Joy (Keith) Hoffman of Lewiston, MN and Lisa (Jim) Opelia of Hewitt, MN; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; along with brothers Gerald (Lois) Isvik and sisters Joan (Don) Williams and Marilyn (Chuck) Stovner.

Honorary urnbearers were Roy's grandchildren.

Inurnment was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Stowe Prairie Township, MN.

Arrangements were with the SchullerFamily Funeral Homes, Wadena, MN.
