Caroline M. Eltjes, 86, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, formerly of Kesley and Waverly, died Monday, January 14, 2013, at Western Home Communities Windhaven in Cedar Falls. She was born November 30, 1926 in rural Clarksville, Iowa, the daughter of Frederick and Anna (Priepke) Garbes. Caroline married Bud "Walter" Eltjes on July 30, 1948 in Shell Rock, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 2001.

Survivors include two daughters, Doriece (Randy) Stickfort of Cedar Falls and Darla (Dan) Erskine of Waverly; six grandchildren, Autumn (Todd) Penz, Skyller, Dakota and Nate Stickfort, Faresse and Walker Erskine; one great grandchild, Brecken Penz; two brothers, Raymond (Jeanette) Garbes of Nashua, Iowa and Carl (Vera) Garbes of Clarksville, Iowa; two sisters, Ruth (Don) Fenneman and Marlene (Bud) Mennega, both of Clarksville, and a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Garbes, of Clarksville.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents and husband; twin infant granddaughters, (Erskine); three brothers, Albert, Frederick and Harlan Garbes, and four sisters, Martha Wadey, Laura Franzen, Louise Grawe and Dorothy Kluiter.

Services will be 10:30 am Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Bethany Bible Chapel in Cedar Falls, with burial at Hitesville, Cemetery, rural Aplington, Iowa. Visitation will be 4-8:00 pm Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the family, Cedar Valley Hospice or the Gideons International.
